Tesla referral FAQ (France, 2026)

Yes. Using a referral code (or link) costs nothing, needs no account or sign-up, and doesn't change the car's price. Tesla simply adds the current benefit: in France today, 2,000 km of free Supercharging or €250 off a new Model 3 or Model Y.

About 2,000 km of free Supercharging on a new Model 3 or Model Y. That figure doubled on 30 April 2026: Tesla went from 1000 km to roughly 2000 km, first seen in Germany and then applied across Europe. It is why almost every French-language page still shows 1,000 km — they have not been re-checked since April.

The euro alternative needs more caution: the sources quoting a euro amount are mostly describing Model S/X (~€500), which are no longer sold new in France. We don't present it as established fact — confirm it on your own order summary.

And beware of “€500 + 1,000 km” claims: there is no stacking, and 1,000 km is the pre-April-2026 figure. Verified July 13, 2026.

No. The benefit is not retroactive: the link must be clicked before you configure your car on tesla.com. It cannot be added once the order is placed. If you forget, contact Tesla support immediately — but nothing is guaranteed.

None, really. A “referral link” (e.g. ts.la/<code>) is just the referrer's code wrapped in a URL. Clicking it pre-applies the code automatically — nothing to type. Tesla has no classic promo-code box to fill in.

The benefit dies with the order, on both sides. For you there's nothing to recover: the referral hadn't been credited yet, since that only happens at delivery. For your referrer it's clearer still — their reward depends on the car actually being delivered, so a cancelled order earns them nothing and doesn't consume their annual quota either.

If you order again later, start cleanly: open a referral link before reconfiguring. An old benefit doesn't carry over to a new order.

No. The rule is one referral per order. Stacking two links adds nothing and isn't provided for by the programme: the second simply replaces the first in your session, or isn't counted.

That also disposes of the fairly common idea of "trying several codes to see which gives most". Every valid code opens exactly the same benefit — there is no more generous code. The only useful test is whether it's active.

You don't have to give them anything: the referral works through a link, not through an exchange of data between the two of you. You share no name, no address, no order details.

What Tesla shows the referrer exactly — beyond the fact that a referral completed — isn't something we can confirm at primary source, so we won't assert it. If it matters to you, the reliable answer is Tesla's, not ours.

We're not tax advisers and won't go beyond the mechanism. What is factual: the buyer benefit takes the form of charging kilometres granted by the manufacturer, not a cash payment, and it does not change the sale price shown on your invoice.

We found no published guidance treating those kilometres specifically as declarable income for a private buyer. If your situation is unusual — business use, a company, a lease — ask a professional rather than a comparison site.

Not for your buyer benefit: it follows the order and is credited at delivery, whatever the year. Two other things do shift, though, and it's worth knowing before you order.

On the referrer's side, the annual cap counts the year of the order, while their credits only exist at delivery — the two counters run at different rates. On the government side it's more serious: the bonus écologique scale is revised annually and eligibility is generally assessed at delivery. A delivery slipping across the new year can therefore cost far more than the referral is worth. Ask for an estimated delivery window before you confirm.
