What “local incentives” actually means

The word “local” causes confusion for a Tesla buyer in France: it can mean the national scheme (the bonus écologique), a regional or city-level grant, or the old scrappage grant. Here's what genuinely exists in 2026, and what has disappeared.

The one national scheme that genuinely stacks with the referral: the eco bonus

This is the only aid you can count on: €5 700 for a reference tax income under €16,301, €4 700 between €16,301 and €26,300, €3 500 above that, plus a €1 200–2 000 European-battery top-up where eligible. Conditions: a new vehicle under €47 000, under 2400 kg, with an ADEME eco-score of at least 60/80. Only the Model Y (RWD / Long Range RWD) meets it; the Model 3 fails the eco-score. The scrappage grant: gone since 1 January 2026

If you've read that scrapping an older vehicle unlocks extra aid, that information is out of date: the scrappage grant (prime à la conversion) was abolished on 1 January 2026. Don't factor it into your budget, however old your current car is.

Regional or local aid: proceed with caution

Some French regions, metro areas, or local energy boards have, in the past, offered their own EV purchase grants on top of the national bonus. These schemes are one-off, vary in name and amount from one authority to another, and aren't always renewed year to year. We don't have a nationally-verifiable figure to publish here for 2026 without risking misleading you — the right move is to check directly with your région, métropole, or local energy syndicate before ordering, in addition to the national eco bonus.

What never stacks with anything else: the referral

Whatever local or national aid you qualify for, the referral benefit (1000 km of Supercharging or €250) adds on top, without ever reducing other aid or being reduced by it: these are two entirely separate paths — one with Tesla at the time of order, the other with the State or your local authority after delivery.

• Check whether your exact trim is eco-bonus eligible.
• Don't expect a scrappage grant any more — it's gone.
• Check your région's or métropole's website for any local aid active in 2026.
